SIENA--JUNE 2017      Day-by-Day

Friday, June1--Arrival date for many of our students

Saturday, June 2
--
6:00PM--Meet at Fonte Gaia (fountain) in Il Campo (city center town square)
6:00 PM--Short walking tour on the way to Palazzo Ravizza 
7:00 PM--NWACC in ITALY reception (included) in the Palazzo Ravizza garden
EVENING--Free night (check out hanging out in Il Campo...It's what most of us do in the evenings). Official on-our-own pizza at Il Campo's Spadaforte outdoor pizzeria.


Sunday, June 3--Morning/Afternoon Jet-Lag appreciation day (lag often hits the second day); Morning/Afternoon free time to explore Siena in small groups.
7:00 PM--Meet at Il Campo's Fonte Gaia (fountain). Walk to classroom location then to dinner at Antica Trattoria Papei (included)
Rest of the evening--Free Time


Monday, June 4--Morning: Testing day for non-beginning language students (free morning for all others). 
1:15 PM Meet in Hotel Moderno lobby
1:30 Depart private bus from Moderno for Brolio Vineyards
2:30 Private guided tour of Castello di Brolio castle and winery plus wine tasting


Morning: Rest/Explore
2:00 Meet in Piazza del Duomo: Tour Duomo, Duomo Museum, and Santa Maria della Scala Archeological Museum with Miles
IMPORTANT: you must bring your Siena student IDs go gain free admission


Tuesday, June 5--First day of class;
8:30 AM Meet with Miles outside entrance of the Università via Pispini classrooms
1:30-2:30 lunch on our own
3:00-5:00 Photography at Moderno public room; History at Pispine Classroom


Wednesday, June 6--same as June 5

Thursday, June 7--same as June 6--EXCEPT: 4:30 PM All students meet at Piazza del Duomo for Tour of Duomo, Duomo Museum, and Santa Maria della Scala Archeological Museum with Miles....IMPORTANT: you must bring your Siena student IDs go gain free admission

Friday, June 8--same as June 7--EXCEPT: 4:30 PM ALL students meet at Bruco fountain for Bruco tour.

Saturday, June 9--Depart Siena 7:00AM for Florence Overnight Excursion.
  • 6:30 AM-Meet at Siena bus station
  • 6:50 AM-Bus departs Siena from bus station 
  • 9:00 AM-Accademia Gallery (David)
  • 12:00 noon-Santa Croce Church
  • 1:00 PM-Lunch Trattoria Nella
  • Walking tour of Florence 
  • Sunday morning-breakfast at Pierre Hotel
  • 1:00 PM meet at Duomo
  • 1:15 Lunch on-our-own at Marcato Centrale
  • 2:30 Medici Chapel by Michelangelo 
  • Sunday afternoon-freetime
  • Return to Siena at will (check for last bus/train to Siena...it's usually around 8:00PM
  • Lodging at Florence Hotel Pierre (breakfast included)

Sunday, June 10--A Day of Florence Freetime; return to Siena whenever you wish (last bus leaves about 8:00PM—last train about 9:00PM)

Monday, June 11--Italian Language 8:45—1:30 w/break; 1:30-2:30 lunch on our own; 3:00-5:00 Photography at Moderno public room; History at Pispine Classroom

Tuesday, June 12--Same as June 12

Wednesday, June 13--Same as June 12--EXCEPT group dinner at Trattoria Papei with Foundation group (included)

Thursday, June 14--Same as June 12--EXCEPT: 4:30 PM ALL students meet at Accademia Chigiana courtyard for fountain for Chigiana tour.

Friday, June 15--Same as June 12

Saturday, June 16--Overnight excursion to ROME. 
Included:
  • Public Transportation Siena/Rome (speed train Florence/Rome)
  • Rome walking tour with Victor/Chirs
  • Roman Forum
  • Colosseum 
  • Pantheon 

Sunday, June 17--Tour ROME in the morning; Free time in ROME after on-our-own lunch.

Monday, June 18-Thursday June 21--Italian Language 8:45—1:30 w/break; 1:30-2:30 lunch on our own; 3:00-5:00 Photography at Moderno public room; History at Pispine Classroom

Friday, June 22--Italian Language 8:45—1:30 w/break; no Photo class, use the afternoon to plan private group excursions to Venice, Cinque Terre, Pisa, etc. Miles can help with transportation/lodging suggestions--PLAN YOUR OWN TOUR!

Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24--Free weekend (I know you’ll make good use of it)

Monday, June 25—Thursday, June 28: Italian Language 8:45—1:30 w/break; 1:30-2:30 lunch on our own; 2:30-5:00 Victor’s photography class

Wednesday, June 27--"Goodbye Siena"  our last supper together we're back at  Antica Trattoria Papei 

Friday, June 29--Italian Language Final 

Saturday, July 1--Depart Siena (unless you have made other arrangements)
